Good Reads – Hello, November
November 1, 2008 in This & That
I really enjoyed what I’ve been reading this week. They are all related to what I want to do in my home:
Keep Our Lives Simple
- Living Simple Saturdays- Ditching Discontentment by Keeper of the Home (one of my new favorites)
- Decorating “Smecorating!” by A Place Called Home (found via Like Merchant Ships, thanks Meredith!)
Nurture Our Relationships
- “I Love You…” by Happy Things (This post should be made into a children’s book, really.)
Learn Practical Skills
- Five Frugal Meal-Planning Tips for Busy People by Suddenly Frugal
- Keeping Gardening Records Year to Year by Simple, Green Frugal Co-op (a new group blog by resourceful writers, speaking of… )
- Life Rolls On by Beauty that Moves (Heather is processing 100 pounds of apples, and making pie fillings to freeze for later.)
Make Smart Money Decisions
- Costco: A Relationship on the Rocks by Scribbit
- How much of your mortgage is going toward clutter storage? by Unclutterer
Enjoy Peace During a Hectic Day
- Seeking Simplicity by Emily at Remodeling this Life , who also said, “I am thankful for a sink full of dishes at the end of the day because it means we eat well.”
I hope you get a chance to enjoy this gorgeous fall weather! We’re going to spend the afternoon at a local nature preserve with friends. Have a wonderful weekend, and don’t forget to turn your clocks back an hour tonight if you’re on Daylight Savings time.

Thank you for recommending my post on frugal meal planning from my blog The Lean Green Family (formerly Suddenly Frugal) at http://suddenlyfrugal.blogspot.com I appreciate the shout out!

Thanks for the mention–I’m a Like Merchant Ships fan too.
Michelle at Scribbit’s last blog post..Inkubook Digital Scrapbook Giveaway
I’ve been LOVING Stephanie’s Keeper of the Home for many months. She is provides a wealth of information and resources!
Great looking resources. I love the idea of ditching discontenment, i’ve been giving that a serious go this morning and i’ll enjoy reading the article by the looks of it…
Rachel, thank you so much for mentioning me in this fabulous list of resources. And I have been meaning to jump over here for days to tell you how much I love your made over paper pile! I am tackling my computer armoire/office/craft area this week and hope to get it looking even half as good as your minimal pile!
I often think similar thoughts about gratitude, even (especially?) while in the middle of a good internal whine monologue about doing housework, cooking dinner, etc. How lucky to have food to cook and dishes to eat from, not to mention a comfortable and safe home!
Vintage Mommy’s last blog post..Infertility & My Espresso Machine
Thanks so much for the link! So sweet
And great link to the gardening records… that is how I need to do mine. They are just all over the place and not thorough enough, and I would love for them to look like those ones!
Just a quick update that my blog has gone back to its original name–Suddenly Frugal (no more Lean Green Family)–and has a new address at Word Press. The meal-planning post you reference above can now be found here:
