I love the sound of silence! And second to that, the sound of our pool (water feature) through our open doors.

With 15 and almost 14 year old boys, one of my favorite sounds is when they are having a polite and engaging conversation with each other. Also when they are playing together (not on video games) and it's going well. :D

My two constant favourite sounds are: my son laughing, and the silence of his nap.

We're also really enjoying listening to Dean Jones - 'Napper's Delight'. It's a great album.

I think setting the tone of our voices in our home is SO IMPORTANT. My oldest daughter is particularly sensitive to hearing any upset or anger in my voice. I often apologize to the girls for speaking harshly to them in my anger. The more I apologize and ask for their forgiveness, the more sensitive I am to the tone of voice I use consistently. Great insight!

I have many favorite sounds. Bubba's laughter. My sewing machine chugging along. The dishwasher running. The deep silence that comes late at night in the hour of the quilt. Good stuff.

I have very sensitive hearing, so I actually look forward to power outages, I love the "sound of nothing" that wakes me up in the middle of the night!
Of actual sounds, I love to sit on the back porch in the dark listening to my family go about their evening "settling in" routines behind me.

I don't think I can pick just one favorite. I love hearing 'house sounds', the dishwasher, the dryer, the refrigerator. There is a certain contentment, a sort of all is well feeling that I get when I hear these sounds. Another favorite is listening to my 7yo dd sing to herself when she is engrossed in something. The sounds of my 9yo ds playing (even when it is battle sounds!) The windchimes I got for Christmas playing Ascension. A cat purring. I suppose my all-time favorite sound is the pure silence that comes over the world during a good snowfall.
