The month is usually long enough that it actually changes our habits. We don’t really want to go out and spend a lot of money when it’s over, surprisingly.

My husband and I just finished our "no spend month" in June. We saved $340!! I really applied stacking coupons onto grocery store sales, making homemade yogurt for our smoothies, making homemade bread and pizza dough, sticking to my dinner menu plan and not driving around so much just to get out of the house. I think you mentioned about being Gluten free before, but I hadn’t picked up on it. I am Gluten and Diary free and since getting married my husband and I are making more of an effort to save and limit our spending. One of the hardest things is specialty flours are so expense, but I have a great Bread recipe that cuts well and doesn’t go flakey. If you can have Geletine I will hunt the recipe out and send it to you. I live in Australia so we might have different products.

I love reading your blog–but I absolutely loved watching your family in action–obviously Lane was the real diamond of the show. But I’ve been reading your blog for about a year, I think last summer was when I picked up on what you are doing here. You had just ended your last no spend month and I thought –what a neat idea. Now, I think I can convince my husband to try this and just see where it goes. It’s a challenge and I am really looking forward to trying. Thanks for sharing.

Ha! I love this. I too, like Roxie, didn’t realize that you are local. I saw your first post about this and saw all of the landmarks. Good luck to you. We are traveling in July so no no-spend month for us this month. We are talking about it a bit and maybe in August!
