Small Notebook Recommends

Every now and then I look over at something in our home and think, “Wow, that was a really good purchase!”

Sometimes I even like something enough that I want to tell other people about it, but I wouldn’t want Small Notebook to become a blog about products. It’s just not about the stuff.

To have a place to share recommendations, I’d like to introduce “Small Notebook Recommends” — a new Amazon shop filled with the stuff we use and love.

As someone who is careful with money and who doesn’t like clutter, I am very purposeful about what I buy. I care about good quality. I want to buy something once and have it last a long time.

I’ll read Amazon reviews and check prices across websites. I’ll spend so much time comparing, contrasting, and deliberating that Doug says, “Enough already! Just buy it.”

Here you’ll find a few of our favorite kitchen tools, books, toys, baby stuff, and other home goods. These are a few of the things that we personally use and love at our house and that we feel were money well spent.

You can find Small Notebook Recommends via this little button:

Anything you purchase supports Small Notebook and our little family if you begin your visit to Amazon by clicking over through a link from Small Notebook. (It doesn’t have to be something we recommend, it can be anything you’ve decided to buy.)

I hope you enjoy looking around. Thanks for reading here and all of your support.

  1. Great idea! I’ve been toying with the idea of doing the same thing, was it hard to set up?

I’m sure your suggestions will be well respected. Your site and pics of your home look well thought out and practical. Thank you very much!

  3. I do the same thing when I go to buy something–research research research! This will take a lot of the time off my own research part! Thanks!

  4. Oh I’m SO glad you did this. I shop Amazon quite a bit and I’m all about supporting someone else-especially since it’s shopping I would be doing anyways. I hate to go to the store so I shop online!
I’m also happy to see your ideas and I am wanting to get that haba play food!

  5. I am exactly the same way. I hate thinking that I have made a bad choice and wasted money so I research nearly every purchase I make. I will say it is a little freaky how many of the things on your list we own too- the kitchen, the Haba toys, the water table, the booster, the immersion blender, the coffee grinder, the gallon jar….etc, etc….I guess we come to a lot of the same conclusions when we research- the best is the best! :) Before you purchase anything else- just ask me if we already have one so you know which to purchase. :) I will be buying the short sweater shelf. It will be perfect in my boys’ closets. Thank you!

  6. Great idea! I love reading product reviews – will definitely check your recommendations out.

I love this! Thank you for being so thoughtful about your recommendations. There are a couple of blogs that I have stopped subscribing to because I no longer trust what they are telling me. I can no longer tell when they are being truthful or just advertising. They had also transitioned from less actual blogging to mostly reviews. It turned me off.

I am certainly not against reviews. As you can see from my last post, I do reviews on my blog and I have begun advertising. However, I am also a huge advocate of thrift store shopping and buying less in general so I would never want to come across as one big advertisement. It’s a very fine line that I am hoping to walk with grace. My hat is off to you for doing it with both grace and style!

  8. What a great idea! I can’t wait to see your recommendations!

Awesome! I was thrilled to see Fiesta Ware listed. My dishes are old, chipped and are not standing the test of time. I’ve been thinking of Fiesta Ware for sometime, and am so happy to see you recommend it! ;)

  10. Very cool. While I love to research tech purchases, I’m often wish other people would research kitchen and household items for me. Looks like you’ve done just that!

Now if you’d just clothes shop for me, I’d be all set. :-)

  11. wonderful idea! there are some great sites out there that do similar trial and review of products. my brother loves these and tries to keep us in the know. ;)

  12. I love reading reviews and I’ll enjoy looking at your Amazon store. I especially like the book section.

  13. I am a new blogger and have been struggling with the same issue. I want to provide a service – when a product is really cool, but I dislike sites that look like they have chicken pox – ie. adverts everywhere. This is a great idea. Thanks

  14. Great recommendations except I’m unsure about sophie the giraffe. It seems unnecessarily overpriced; I prefer quality wooden teethers. They’re cheaper and even “safer” as they’re not plastic. There are also several reviews on amazon and elsewhere about babies choking on sophie’s legs and about the color rubbing off. I know a lot of moms swear by this giraffe but I wouldn’t be too surprised to see a recall on sophie soon.
