Introducing: The Simple Blogging E-book

I am so glad to finally share with you something I’ve been working on the past few months.

It’s my e-book, called Simple Blogging: Less Computer Time, Better Blogging. My desire and plan for this book is to help people learn to grow their blogs while staying balanced in other aspects of life.

This post is supposed to be my sales pitch, but that makes me laugh because that so isn’t me. I’ll just tell you what this book is to me.

I started Small Notebook in 2008 with little clue about what I was getting into. I wasn’t expecting how much time blogging can take. I thought it would just take 20 minutes to write up a post, and then you add a picture and it’s done … but that’s not how it is at all.

Don’t get me wrong, blogging is rewarding and satisfying and fun, but I don’t want to do it at the expense of my family or me.

I love blogging. It delights me to share my thoughts with you, and I am honored that you would spend a small part of your day with me. I enjoy what I do.

I write about living simply, and it didn’t take much time at all to figure out that my new blog was making my life a lot more complicated. I had a little girl to take care of, and I knew I had to learn how to blog simply.

When I hear about other women who are struggling with trying to balance blogging with everything else, I know what they’re going through. I wrote this book because I long to help people be successful at blogging without feeling discouraged and overspent.

I want them to enjoy blogging without feeling like they need to spend so much time on the computer. Most blogging advice leaves you overwhelmed that you’ll never have enough time to do it right. This book is written with awareness that most of us are not full-time bloggers.

Simple Blogging is written for you if:

  • You wonder how other people seem to manage a blog, but you’re struggling to find the time to do it all.
  • You want to grow your blog, but you’re not sure what else you can do.
  • You wonder if you’ll ever make peace with your email inbox again.
  • You just want to hear good blogging advice from a friend.
  • Or perhaps you don’t have a blog, but you’ve been reading here and you’d like to know what I do behind the scenes.

This book has 17 chapters with topics such as dealing with email guilt, social media is optional, how to stop staring at a blank computer screen, and time management so you don’t stay up until two in the morning. You’ll learn how to improve your blog to better attract readers and focus your blogging efforts in the most effective ways possible.

You will get:

I’m very excited to tell you the price of this book is only $8. I’m hoping that by keeping the price affordable, more people will read it. Will you help me by telling people about it? (The book has an affiliate program you can join, click here to become an affiliate.)

I’m launching the book from a brand new website: SimpleBlogging.net

To peek inside the book, you can read the first ten pages for free.

You can purchase the book right here by clicking on this button:

So that’s my blogging story. I hope it will help others. Thanks for being here and being a part of it. I could not have written it without you.

  25. Boy do I ever need this book! Thank you for keeping the price so reasonable. I see a lot of e-books and although the topics are intriguing, I have to pass on them because of the price. Definitely not so with yours.
I have been struggling with juggling being a mother to two kids under two and trying to blog. I’m about half-way through your book now and your tip on turning off the internet while writing a blog post is genius. There are way too many distractions! I’m looking forward to learning so much more. Thank you!

  28. Loved this, and I am a single girl. I think it’s really applicable for anyone because we single girls have lives outside of the blog world as well. It’s so important to maintain balance. I am very pleased with my purchase.

  33. That sounds like something I need! Does this mean you can fix my slow writing skills? I need some serious work there. I just spent all day writing one post. One. I don’t know where the time went. All I knew was that my family would be reading it and it had to be… I will check out your book. Thanks as always.

  34. Congratulations on this wonderful project! You gave the idea that I can make my own book in this didgital way… Just never thougt about it. Now I just have to know waht the book will be about… I have thousands of ideas (mostly knitting, since that is my major intrest) Good luck to you!

  35. I bought the e-book yesterday and can’t wait to read it. I won’t even list my blog here…because it is so neglected…i get overwhelmed…I’m a 50-something woman with 2 jobs…i love to blog, but is it in front of the computer going…”who wants to hear this”….i love reading blogs…and dream of being in the same race…thank you…i needed this!!

  36. Boy, is this speaking to me right now. I am on the edge of the cliff with opportunities and ambition vs. family life and balance. Thanks for writing this!

  37. I just bought this (and read it!) last night. This is essential Rachel. I felt calmed down just by reading it, like Rachel was talking to me across the table: “Yes, I’m busy being a mother and a wife and a blogger. But it’s possible. Make priorities.”
Rachel, can you extend your “simple blogging” voice to other e-books with topics like frugality, cleaning, crafts, cooking, decorating…? I know other people have published e-books in these topics, but I like YOUR voice.
Er, but that might cut into your family time.
    Anyway, loved it!

  38. Rachel, thank you for this book. I bought it yesterday and read through it today. It’s just what I’ve been waiting for. I have a blog but need help in balancing it all and keep my marriage number one. I don’t want to spend all my time in front of a PC, I want to spend it with my husband and eventually my children. Your book was so helpful and so practical. Thank you!

  39. Just bought your book. Thanks! Can’t wait to check it out and put it into action :) Best Wishes!

  40. WOW ! Your book is wonderful. I just read about it this morning and bought it right away — thank you for keeping the price resonable :) I have quickly skimmed the book on the computer and am going to print it so that I can really read it — but I can tell that it is just what I need. I have been blogging for awhile and have been struggling with whether or not to keep going — with what I read so far I think I will keep going but I need to refocus on my purpose. So — thank you for this book — it is very real and down to earth. Blessings

  43. Hi Rachel! I just found your blog a couple of weeks ago and LOVE it! I LOVE to organize and post about organizing all of the time on my blog (www.kennyanderin.blogspot.com) so this blog is right up my alley!

  46. Just came across your great blog today! I’ll be ordering your e-book this week. I’ve been really, really struggling with time to blog, family of course, cooking, cleaning, etc. When I’m on top of 1 thing, everything else suffers; and I feel like I’m NOT doing a good job keeping up. Great blog.

  47. I’ve really enjoyed reading your e-book. It answered so many questions that I didn’t even know I had. I was beginning to wonder if I was doing enough to make my blog successful, but after reading your e-book, I feel like I’m right on track. I’ll continue doing what I’m doing because I enjoy it and I believe in myself. Thanks for the confirmation.

  48. So excited about this! Can’t wait to read your advice, Rachel!

  49. Hi Rachel,

I just wanted to tell you HOW HELPFUL your ebook is! I am really, really enjoying it- learning a lot and in simple, practical bites that I can actually apply. I am planning to write about it on my blog and suggest it to friends. I have never purchased an ebook before because I thought it would be just too much information, but I expected that yours would be simple and easy to use, and I was not disappointed! Great work! And, I am so excited to follow your next adventure :-)

  50. i’ve already used several tips from the book — thanks!

  51. I NEVER BUY eBooks online (I’ll download them for free if they’re available)… but yours I bought. It was exactly what I am dying to figure out, especially as my current website stalled out with all the craziness (three-quarter time doing work, watching my 2 young daughters half the day and another on the way, while all trying to start and upkeep a new blog) in only a month of posting. Thank you for this and I look forward to reading your book.

  52. Thanks for a wonderful ebook. I just found your site a few weeks ago and soon after purchased Simple Blogging. It’s been such a helpful resource. I plan on posting a review on my site to help spread the word. Thanks again from a new subscriber!!

  53. Hi Rachel, I haven’t written a comment for awhile however I am still a regular and right now I am so excited because I have just written my first affiliate blog post – yeahhhh!

Naturally it is for your great new book which I downloaded last week and am slowly reading, enjoying and savouring….

The book is great, I love that you kept the price so reasonable and the advice is really down to earth.

    Well done :)

  54. This is an answer to prayer! I am SO excited to start reading it! Just a few days ago I was reading The Dummies Guide to Blogging, a gigantic book, trying to figure out how to apply it to my blog and my schedule. This is such a better fit, and it will save me quite a bit of money :)

  55. Dear Rachel,

I just downloaded your book (literally probably 10 minutes ago) and I’m only half way through it but I decided to stop and write a big, gigantic THANK YOU before I went any further.

I blog and write and this book has the good, clear, practical advise that I have been wanting for myself and my clients.

I love it that you don’t do Facebook and Twitter because it’s not right for you (I have been grappling with the same introverted overwhelm of social media and haven’t found as good a way to express it as you did).

I love your advice about email.

I love your advice about readers.

I love your layout and design of your book (I have never figured out why ebooks are so ugly!)

I still have half your book to go and I’m so excited that I had to break away and thank you for your tips.

Rachel, I’m subscribing to your blog right now and I look forward to reading more from you.

    Thank you!

  56. This is a very late comment, but I just need to tell you how much I liked your book. (And I am so relieved I was able to download it – this was my first e-book!) I try to read it slowly as there are so many excellent and thoughtprovoking ideas I want to dwell on. After reading, I often go for a walk to think about all your advice. So thank you very much! And as it is so valuable – I think you should charge more! Really! It’s worth it!
