How My Family Has Good Mornings

My family places importance on having good mornings. This does not mean we are good at mornings. Click to read about how my family has good mornings at Alpha Mom.

I wanted to make Valentine cards for the students in Lane’s class without using candy, so we decided to make these matchbook-style cards with stickers. Get the free printable template: Make Matchbook Valentine Cards (Free Printable)

Encourage Kids with Positive Labels Because I’m tired of seeing girls wearing shirts that say “Diva” and little boys wearing shirts that say “Trouble.”

A wintery craft idea: Snowman Bookmark

Except we haven’t seen any snow here. It’s been quite mild, and I keep waiting for winter to happen.

  1. Thanks for all the great links!

  2. This is so timely! My husband gets up early and I’m not a morning person. Love the idea of waiting until a certain time to talk about important things.

  3. Thanks for the good reads!

Today, my youngest and I put together her candy free Valentine’s. I printed on cardstock, “Sip-a-dee-do-da, Sip-a-dee-a, Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Love, Maggie”

We attached heart straws using a paper puncher to weave the straw into.

I thought they were pretty cute. She added a sticker or too to them.

We have chocolates for her teachers but my middle daughter is giving here three teacher bags of pistachios that say, “I am nuts about you.”

  5. I am a new fan of your site…you have inspired me in so many ways…and i love the design and photography on your site. this is my first comment…your daughter is soooo beautiful!!!
and also thanks for the rec on KMF Olive Oil Soap…it’s now a must have in my house!
With baby #2 due next month, I have decluttered and simplified like crazy. Nesting gone crazy! But it’s good as I realize how much stuff I didn’t really need and what a waste a lot was with #1. Like did I really need 16 pink receiving blankets? NO! I was given 4 blue ones as a gift for #2 (its a boy) and I have not bought more :)

  6. I LOVE your Valentine’s cards!

We used an idea I found on Pinterest…little bags full of assorted goldfish, and then I stapled a card across the top that says “Will you o-FISH-ally be mine?” and Eleanor helped me stamp them with hearts. But her cousin is gluten-free, and I was wondering what to do for him…I think he may just get a matchbox card! :)

  7. Mornings are always an issue for moms (and dads). thankfully, our kids are early risers (I didn’t always feel thankful for this) so we have plenty of time to get everyone clean, dressed, fed, and snuggled before we have to leave.

  8. Your article resonated so much with me! I do the ‘don’t move, don’t breathe’ moments, trying not to wake my 4yo … and I rarely get time before she wakes up. But that’s ok, we hop into the kitchen together and make waffles. She’s a terrific egg-cracker now :)

    PS. hubby sleeps in.

  9. Hmmm… I wondered if this was going to be a one word post: “Coffee.” :)

But since you’re aiming higher than that, I’m off to read the rest!

  10. I love that sticker idea! So much better than the stock Disney or whatever the newest character is Valentines! And AMEN on the positive labels! Same idea goes with the whole “princess” culture going on…

  14. We’ve been having a super mild winter here too which is saying a LOT since I live in the frozen tundra of Minnesota! :) I’ll take it though – our first winter here last year was a doozy!

Looking forward to checking out your links.

Have a happy start to your weekend!
